Believe it or not, before he was The President of The United States, he was engaged in a Battle of The Billionaires against Vince McMahon on live television. Not only did this result in Trump eventually buying out McMahon for control of Monday Night Raw, but also an epic match at WrestleMania 23.
While a lot of fans will probably view this storyline negatively, especially with the hokiness that sometimes emanated from Trump, one has to admit it was a very ballsy move on WWE’s part. It would also eventually get The Billionaire enshrined in the company’s Hall of Fame, which is a huge honor.
With that being said and Trump’s time in the rearview mirror for quite a while now, here are the top five Donald Trump moments in WWE.
As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and also be sure to tell us what your favorite part of Trump being in WWE was.
#5 Battle of The Billionaires contract signing
While the contract signing for The Battle of The Billionaires didn’t go as smoothly as the company probably hoped, it still had quite a few memorable moments. With that being said, it would be unfair to have parts of that segment littered throughout this list, which is why it will have its own place here.
And from having Stone Cold Steve Austin cut a pretty epic promo on Trump, to the future president shoving Vince McMahon, this segment deserves a spot in the history books. Sure, the brilliance of the segment was overshadowed at times by Trump’s weak promo skills but it still offered fans some of the best moments of the entire PG Era.
Keep in mind that this wasn’t WWE’s best era of storytelling and was a moment in time that the company largely catered to younger audiences, thus making this overall storyline all the more special.
#4 Trump owning Monday Night Raw
Remember when Donald Trump owned Monday Night Raw?
As impossible as that might sound, especially since this is now the President of The United States, there was a time when Donald Trump kayfabe bought out Vince McMahon and took control of Monday Night Raw. He then took things a step further by giving away a pay per view quality match on television and announcing that fans could get a refund at the end of the show.
Interestingly enough, the small things also helped this moment stand out as Trump even went so far as to make part of the Raw set solid gold, make entire Raw broadcast commercial-free and claimed that Vince McMahon would have never given the fans something as spectacular as this.
WWE went all out for this moment and it paid off in spades. Maybe it hurt the product a bit in the short run and wasn’t the best avenue the company could have gone down, but it certainly led to some very interesting situations during the PG era of WWE.
#3 Donald Trump tackling Vince at WM 23
Another big moment in The Battle of The Billionaires was the moment where Donald Trump finally had enough of Vince McMahon’s interference and took matters into his own hands. In all reality, all Trump did was tackle McMahon, and hit him with a few MMA style jabs, but it was enough to leave the crowd asking for more.
Much like the rest of Donald Trump’s saga in WWE, it didn’t go perfectly and looked a little hokey at points, but interestingly enough, it didn’t minimalize the impact of that moment. In fact, the WWE Universe was so hooked on this idea of two billionaires going at it that the company could have done anything and it would have been gold.
If nothing else, fans wanted to see what happened next in this bizarre feud and that’s what helped make moments like this all the more enthralling. It also took place at WWE’s biggest show of the entire year, which only helped amplify the magnitude of such a moment.
#2 Donald Trump shaving McMahon’s head
Maybe it was just watching Vince McMahon squirm, cry, and beg as Bobby Lashley, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Donald Trump shaved him bald, but it was genuinely one of the most entertaining moments in WrestleMania history. It also got a huge pop from the fans as it happened and that only made it all the more memorable.
As if that wasn’t enough, Trump had the weirdest look on his face throughout the whole thing and legitimately looked like the experience was painful for him. He was seen noticeably wincing and turning away as he helped shave McMahon’s head bald and it just helped make everything all the more bizarre.
With all that in mind, it was just one of those moments where you had to be there to marvel at what was taking place. Yeah, it’s on the internet now and easily accessible on a wide variety of video platforms, but it doesn’t have the last impact as it did when it happened that magical night.
#1 Getting stunned
Let’s be honest here.
There was nothing more entertaining than watching Donald Trump get stunned by Stone Cold Steve Austin after The Battle of The Billionaires at WrestleMania 23. In fact, not only was it that rare cardiac moment that brought the WWE Universe together in joy, but it is also something that continues to be a meme to this day.
Of course, maybe that has to do with the overriding troupe of watching a billionaire finally getting payback, but it was still impossible not to enjoy. What made it even more special however was the fact that it happened during Trump and Lashley’s victory celebration which allowed the company to catch people off guard with the suddenness of it all.
In the end, it was that rare moment where a celebrity was willing to put the egg on themselves and it will be immortalized for years to come. Luckily for the WWE Universe, Trump remains enshrined in the Celebrity wing of The WWE Hall of Fame, where his dip into pro wrestling can be admired by all.
