Even though they faced one another on many live events, RAW and SmackDown events, here we shall be focusing on their best pay-per-view matches. These matches will definitely go down in the pro-wrestling history as some of the greatest matches ever.

#5 TLC 2013

Cena and Orton faced each other in a TLC match to unify the World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE Championship. While Cena was defending the World Heavyweight title, Orton defended his WWE Championship.

Both Cena and Orton hit one another with tables, ladders, chairs and every possible weapon in their vicinity. This match was worth the worth the price of admission for every single person who went to witness the match. Orton and Cena tried multiple times to climb the ladder and unhook those titles. However, every time their efforts were made futile by the fellow competitor. Finally, Orton handcuffed Cena to the ring ropes and went on to achieve victory, thus becoming the undisputed champion in the WWE.

This match was one of the best TLC matches in WWE at that point of time.

#4 SummerSlam 2007

John Cena and Randy Orton have both been World Champion on multiple occasions during the course of their respective careers. They perhaps faced each other with the WWE Championship hanging in the balance more than any other duo. One such match occurred at SummerSlam 2007. Orton was the challenger and Cena was the defending champion. They both fought tooth and nail to out-think and out-maneuver each other and establish themselves as bona fide top tier performers for the company.

Even though these two wrestlers had fought previously, the reason this match made this list is because of the larger-than-life spectacle they were able to create. The match was built up properly and the storyline resonated with the WWE Universe, making it one of the more memorable contests in SummerSlam history. In the end, Cena was successful in retaining his title against Orton after battling for twenty-one minutes.

#3 Hell in a Cell - 2014

John Cena and Randy Orton competed in a ferocious match at Hell in a Cell, brutalizing one another, all in the quest to grab the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Orton and Cena utilized every possible object in the ring, including tables, chairs, the steel cage itself et cetera. They looked set to improve on their last match inside the savage structure, and they succeeded.

Despite receiving multiple injuries, these two athletes did not stop for a moment, and continued the action. At the conclusion of the almost twenty-five minute contest, Cena hit his signature Attitude Adjustment to Orton through a table and scored a pin fall. This match was undoubtedly the best match of the night.

History has witnessed several hell in a cell matches in pro-wrestling, but this will surely go down as one of the more intense HIAC matches ever.

#2 Iron Man match - Bragging Rights 2009

The Iron Man matches is designed to test the limits and endurance of the competitors, and when such a match features John Cena and Randy Orton as the participants, it reaches another level due to history between the two, and their chemistry inside the ring. In this match, both Cena and Orton pushed each other to put on the best possible show for the WWE Universe. They both put their bodies on the line to establish their claim upon the WWE Championship. The match lasted for sixty minutes, and Cena defeated Orton with a final advantage of six pinfalls, to Orton’s five.

The match saw submissions, pin-falls, RKOs, AAs, and other special moves. There was interference from Ted Debiase and Cody Rhodes, who helped Orton’s cause, but soon Kofi Kingston came to even the odds by acting in favor of Cena.

For the WWE Universe, the spectacle provided one of the best matches of the year. This match deserves its spot at number two on this list.

#1 I quit- Breaking Point - 2009

This match was perhaps the best ever encounter between Cena and Orton. It was an ‘I Quit’ match, and, the only way to win the match was to make your opponent say ‘I quit.’ The level of viciousness displayed in this match was unbelievable. The match lasted nearly twenty minutes, and Orton and Cena put on a sports entertainment clinic.

Randy Orton was the WWE Champion and he was defending it against Cena. Orton handcuffed Cena and beat him with the kendo sticks; Cena refused to quit and the match kept rolling. In the end, Cena used the handcuffs to his advantage, and, locked Orton in his STF submission move. Orton tried hard to resist and find the key to the handcuffs. In the end however, he could not handle the pain any longer, and uttered ‘I Quit’. Cena won the match and became the WWE Champion again.
