Not only did The Revival win the tag titles at Clash of Champions, but in so doing they became the first team in the history of WWE to win the RAW, SmackDown and NXT tag team titles.

Following the big Clash of Champions title win for The Revival, let’s take a look at five of the best opponents that could challenge Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder for their newly won tag team titles.

#5 Heavy Machinery

The Revival brand themselves as “top guys” in WWE, and one of the reasons why they would be accurate in that assessment is because they are not only excellent in-ring wrestlers, but they are very talented entertainers as well.

WWE fans got their first taste of The Revival’s in-ring abilities when the team dominated the tag team division in NXT.

While they have not found as much success on the main roster in WWE, they have earned numerous accolades since requesting their releases from the company before their latest push.

One team who could work very well with The Revival is Heavy Machinery, comprised of Otis and Tucker. When The Heavy Machinery first hit the scene on WWE TV, they were an entertaining and goofy tag team, but despite their on-screen antics and comedic nature, they were a surprisingly solid tag team, as evidenced by their run in NXT.

Should Heavy Machinery get a push on SmackDown Live, they could likely have a really fun feud with The Revival on the Blue Brand, and could provide fans with equally entertaining matches backstage segments.

#4 A returning Authors of Pain team

Akam and Rezar, collectively known as The Authors of Pain, have been off WWE television since January of this year when Akam was forced to take time off to undergo surgery for a knee injury.

The team actually made a couple minor TV appearances following Akam’s surgery, appearing in the 50-Man Battle Royal at the 2019 Super Showdown PPV, and in a brief appearance on SmackDown Live in June when the two were seen exiting Baron Corbin’s dressing room.

There remains no official word as to when WWE plans to bring AOP back to television. With SmackDown Live gearing up for its debut on FOX Sports on October 4th, it might be a good idea to bring AOP back to TV in time for the SmackDown premiere in order to freshen up the brand when it moves to its new network and home on Friday nights.

AOP and The Revival had numerous, epic battles when the tag teams were in NXT, so it would be fitting for the teams to rekindle their feud on the main roster once Akam and Rezar return to television.

#3 The Bar

Following WrestleMania 35, Sheamus suffered a concussion on WWE SmackDown Live, and has been off television ever since suffering the injury. Sheamus’ return status is currently unknown, as he might be dealing with neck and back injuries which are keeping him from an in-ring return.

Following Sheamus’ exit from WWE TV to deal with his injuries, Cesaro Tweeted in May that The Bar is over, but with The Swiss Cyborg’s place on the WWE main roster in a limbo, it might be a good idea for WWE to reunite the team if and when Sheamus is cleared to return to competition in WWE.

Cesaro last competed in a high profile match at NXT UK Takeover in Cardiff, and wowed fans in singles competition.

The Bar has always been a fantastic in-ring team, and if they feuded with The Revival, some excellent tag team matches could come from the feud which would feature very seasoned tag teams.

With SmackDown Live set to premiere on FOX Sports next month, WWE might be saving Sheamus’ return for the show’s debut on Friday nights. With Cesaro currently in need of direction on the WWE main roster, a good idea might be to reunite The Bar and have them face The Revival for the SmackDown Tag Team titles.

#2 EC3 and Eric Young

EC3 and Eric Young are both former top Impact Wrestling stars who have yet to make their mark on the WWE main roster.

Young was previously part of the SAnitY stable, which enjoyed much success in NXT, but was rarely used in a significant way when the group was brought to the main roster and SmackDown Live.

As for EC3, he enjoyed a brief stint in NXT, and was rushed to main roster, only to be forgotten about quickly after his main roster TV debut.

EC3 and Eric Young have teamed up before on WWE Main Event, and the two Superstars make a formidable tag team, and one that could add depth to the SmackDown roster.

One problem that has always existed with the brand split is that divisions such as the Women’s and Tag Team divisions feel underwhelming when the teams are spread across two brands, meaning the budding team of EC3 and Eric Young could help a growing SmackDown tag team division.

The Revival can work with just about anyone in pro wrestling, and with EC3 and Eric Young’s abilities to entertain, the four talents could have a really fun and exciting in-ring program.

#1 The Viking Raiders

It has been reported that the hard brand split will be returning in WWE when SmackDown Live makes the move to FOX Sports, and the company has confirmed a roster draft will be taking place beginning on October 11th, just one week after SmackDown moves to FOX.

With all WWE Superstars available to move in the upcoming draft, the team of Erik and Ivar, known collectively as The Viking Raiders, could move to SmackDown Live and shoot straight to the top of the brand to feud with The Revival.

Erik and Ivar, formerly known in WWE as The War Raiders, and known before their time in WWE as War Machine, might look like a run-of-the-mill big man tag team, but they are anything but.

While the team has been used in mostly quick squash matches since their debut on the main roster, they have impressed with their unique tandem offense and their amazing agility given their size.

With The Revival known as one of the best in-ring teams in WWE, it might be interesting to see how Dawson and Wilder would fare against a team like The Viking Raiders.
