There is no doubt that the majority of times that these two all time greats have fought, we have gotten a match of the year worthy contender, sometimes even the match of the year. They have an incredible chemistry that you won’t find in many superstar parings and have provided us with some phenomenal moments and collisions.

As it seems we have now had the final Undertaker vs. Triple H one-on-one match, lets take a look at the top five best matches they ever had one-on-one.

#5 Triple H vs. The Undertaker - Smackdown October 24, 2008

There was no real build up to this match and there had been no feud between Triple H and The Undertaker either. Taker was feuding with the Big Show and Smackdown General Manager Vickie Guerrero at the time, while Triple H was WWE Champion and feuding with fellow babyface Jeff Hardy over the top prize.

The match between them was put together simply to soften Taker for his upcoming Last Man Standing match with the Big Show at Cyber Sunday just two days later. Never the less, rather than phoning it in right before both men’s big matches at Cyber Sunday, Triple H and The Undertake put on a clinic.

The two went back and forth all match with several high risk moves and a dozen near falls. Just as it seemed Taker may be about to take it home, the Big Show interrupted giving the Deadman the disqualification victory. A crummy ending but a thrilling affair.

#4 Triple H vs. The Undertaker - Super Show-Down 2018

It was built as the last ever match between them, and was it? As we are nearing the end of 2018 then I would have to say probably, at least in one-on-one terms. But was it a good way to go out?

Surprisingly, especially when you consider The Undertaker’s age and limitations in the ring, the two battled it out for almost 30 minutes, and considering that both are merely part time performers, they had a damn good match.

The action itself probably wasn’t as thrilling as the previously mentioned match between them from Smackdown in 2008, but seeing how that was 10 years ago, it is amazing they were able to go at the rate they did in this final encounter.

We had some back and forth action, steel chair and sledgehammer use, tables being broken and multiple finishers from both men. And with Kane in Taker’s corner, and Shawn Michaels in The Game’s, the two were able to provide some interference during the slow long moments of what otherwise would have been both men lying down.

Triple H came out on top with help from Shawn Michaels, and so ended the final one-on-one match between them. With the post match beat down from the Brothers of Destruction, one has to wonder if we may see a tag team match between them in the coming months.

#3 Triple H vs. The Undertaker - WrestleMania XXVII

This match almost didn’t happen, and it wasn’t until around January of 2011 that it was penciled in. Triple H had been planned for a ‘King of Kings’ vs ‘King of The Ring’ WrestleMania 26 rematch with Sheamus, while Taker’s previous plans for the evening were not known. It was apparently Triple H and The Undertaker who decided their match needed to happen after discovering the even had no truly special matches scheduled.

The build up was pretty good, especially the night both men returned to TV where Triple H’s unannounced return stole the thunder of The Undertaker’s. The fans were into this one before the bell even rang. It was one of those matches where they went crazy the whole match through. The back and forth between them came in droves, with it seemingly like neither man ever had the upper hand.

We had a lot of weapon use, finishing moves and several reversals, most notably a Chokeslam-turned-Pedigree reversal through the announce table. As everyone expected, The Undertaker came out on top with the Tombstone.

#2 Triple H vs. The Undertaker - WrestleMania X-7

With three WrestleMania matches to have happened between The Undertaker and Triple H, I have always found this one to not just be underrated, but better than the Street Fight between them at WrestleMania 27.

This is also a pretty historic match, as it is the first WrestleMania match of The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania streak to actually be a highly entertaining match.

Up until this, the majority of his streak matches were, in The Undertaker’s own words, ‘some stinkers’. This was the one to turn everything around.

The match started with the two fighting outside of the ring with Triple H quickly being put through the Spanish announcer’s table.

The two brawled outside the ring, through the crowd, and into the technical area, the two fought to the top of the scaffolding, Triple H used a steel chair to attack Undertaker’s legs, but Undertaker retaliated with a Chokeslam off the scaffolding, followed by a diving elbow drop.

A failed Tombstone and Pedigree later, Taker pinned Triple H after the Last Ride for the win. I like to look at this match as being a heavily underrated one, not just in terms of the classics Triple H and The Undertaker have had since, especially at WrestleMania, but because this took place at WrestleMania X-7, which is often regarded as the best WWE event of all time.

This match had to compete with a technical classic between Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, a crazy but highly entertaining Street Fight between Vince and Shane McMahon, and the TLC II with Edge and Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz, and The Rock vs. Steve Austin main event, both of which were 10/10, and then the future more hyped Triple H vs. Undertaker matches, so it is easy to see how it became lost in the shuffle of excellent matches.

#1 Triple H vs. The Undertaker - WrestleMania XXVIII

It was the end of an era! Well, until WWE Super Showdown 6 years later in 2018, but for all these years the Hell in A Cell match between Triple H and The Undertaker had been the original final match ever between them, and at the time it was a hell of a way to go out.

With the dream match of The Rock vs John Cena taking place in the main event, The Undertaker and Triple H went out their to steal the show, and that they did. Shawn Michaels volunteered his services as referee here, only adding to the drama. Everything about this encounter was simply electric.

The two battled it out for just over 30 minutes. They went back and forth, fought all over the Cell, use of the sledgehammer, several finishing moves, several near falls, Shawn Michaels gave Undertaker a Superkick leading to the Triple H Pedigree for another nearfall, which was one of the better nearfalls you will ever see.

When Undertaker kicked out, the arena became unglued. After another nearfall from another Tombstone, Taker beat Triple H senseless with a chair and has Triple H fought back and attempted to use his sledgehammer, Taker took it and hit him in the face with it.

With The Game on his knees, Undertaker picked him up and hit the Tombstone for the win.
