This marked the end of The All Mighty WWE Championship era for Lashley on RAW, the first reign of his career, at 196 days.
During his inaugural WWE Championship reign, Bobby Lashley faced off against a multitude of WWE Superstars on the red brand. This included former champions, Hall of Famers and many more.
Despite the obstacles on his way, the 46 year old remained ‘All Mighty’ as he defended his title at major events such as WrestleMania and SummerSlam.
Let’s take a closer look at the five best WWE title defenses of Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship reign.
#5. Bobby Lashley def. Randy Orton (WWE RAW - 13th September 2021)
Bobby Lashley’s final defense as The All Mighty WWE Champion came on Monday Night RAW two weeks ago.
After several weeks of confrontations with the RAW Tag Team Champions R-K-Bro, it was announced that the Hurt Business member would defend his WWE title against Randy Orton at Extreme Rules.
However, the match between The All Mighty WWE Champion and The Viper was moved up to the September 13 episode of Monday Night RAW.
A physical, gritty and hard fought match saw Orton and Lashley exchange numerous near falls, inches away from victory. The Apex Predator seemingly had the match won before MVP prevented The Viper from capturing his fifteenth World Championship.
Randy Orton responded to this by hitting MVP with an RKO, breaking the ribs of Lashley’s manager in the process.
However, this was the distraction that the champion needed as he hit Randy Orton with a spear to win the match and retain his WWE Championship.
#4 Bobby Lashley def. Kofi Kingston (WWE Money in the Bank 2021)
The WWE Championship reign of Bobby Lashley was filled with dominant title defenses.
But arguably the most dominant title defense of The All Mighty’s title reign came at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in July.
Lashley squared off against former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston with the prestigious championship hanging firmly in the balance.
Heading into the match, many expected a close fought battle with Lashley’s power contrasting with Kingston’s speed and agility. However, this was not what transpired.
For almost seven straight minutes, Lashley dominated The New Day member, with Kingston barely registering any offense whatsoever.
The match finally came to an end when the 46-year-old RAW superstar forced Kingston to submit to his trademark Hurt Lock submission hold, retaining the WWE Championship in the process.
#3 Bobby Lashley def. Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman - Triple Threat Match (WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2021)
Despite the numbers advantage not being in the favor of Bobby Lashley, the All Mighty WWE Championship couldn’t be stopped at WrestleMania Backlash earlier this year.
Coming out of WrestleMania, many superstars on Monday Night RAW were vying to become the next challenger for the prestigious championship.
Drew McIntyre became the number one contender once again after defeating Randy Orton and Braun Strowman in the main event of the RAW-after-Mania setting up a showdown at WrestleMania Backlash.
Several weeks later, Braun Strowman won a match on RAW to add himself to the WWE Championship match at the pay-per-view, becoming a triple threat match in the process.
The triple threat match was as physical as you would expect. At one point Bobby Lashley was thrown through the LED board on the stage.
Despite the injuries he sustained, the All Mighty WWE Champion waited for the perfect opportunity to capiltalize in the match. After McIntyre hit the Claymore Kick on Strowman, The All Mighty threw The Scottish Warrior from the ring and hit a Spear on the Monster Among Men to retain the WWE Championship.
#2 Bobby Lashley def. Drew McIntyre - Hell in a Cell match (WWE Hell in a Cell 2021)
The WWE Championship reign of Bobby Lashley will probably be best remembered for The All Mighty’s rivalry with former champion Drew McIntyre.
Lashley and McIntyre’s final meeting for the title came at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event in June.
After numerous successful defenses against McIntyre, Lashley agreed to face The Scottish Warrior one more time with the title on the line inside Hell in a Cell.
However, should Drew McIntyre lose, he wouldn’t be able to challenge for the championship again whilst The All Mighty was champion.
During the Hell in a Cell match the referee was knocked down. This meant the Hell in a Cell door was opened to allow a new official to enter the match. MVP utilized this opportunity to enter The Devil’s Playground.
As Drew McIntyre set up to hit his Claymore Kick finisher, MVP grabbed the leg of the former WWE Champion. This gave Lashley the opportunity to utilize a school boy roll up and retain his championship.
#1 Bobby Lashley def. Drew McIntyre (WWE WrestleMania 37 Night 1)
Arguably Bobby Lashley’s most impressive Championship defense came on the grandest stage of them all at WrestleMania 37 Night One.
The event marked the first time that WWE Superstars had performed in front of live members of the WWE Universe since the pandemic started.
The first match to take place in front of a live crowd was Lashley and McIntyre squaring off for the WWE Championship.
Drew McIntyre seemingly had the match won as he was setting up to hit the Claymore Kick on the All Mighty. However, MVP, at ringside, distracted the former WWE Champion.
This allowed the leader of The Hurt Business to lock in The Hurt Lock submission on McIntyre, forcing the Scottish Warrior to pass out, enabling Lashley to retain the Championship in the process.
