WWE has turned up their storytelling lately, something that has reflected on SmackDown’s show this week. While there were a few questionable segments, some superstars stood out from the crowd. Given that this is the perfect time to start gathering momentum, performances are more important now than at any other time during the year.

Let’s take a look at five superstars from this week’s SmackDown, who managed to dominate the show.

#5 Edge cut a vicious promo on WWE SmackDown

This week’s SmackDown didn’t go too well for the Rated-R Superstar. He ended up staring at the lights when the show was over, but he began on a far better note.

Some of his momentum from the previous week carried over as he was able to showcase himself as a top star once again.

In a throwback to his earlier days in WWE, Edge came out to address his actions from the previous week. On that occasion, he snapped and attacked Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan.

He cut a promo that showcased a more ruthless side to his character, something that’s been missing since his return to the ring. In this character, Edge looked more like the Rated-R Superstar of old, where he was ready to take any opportunity that came his way to win.

Now involved in a Triple Threat match with Reigns and Bryan, Edge will need to bring forth that attitude if he has any hope of winning. While the rest of the show didn’t go his way, Edge certainly began with a certain fervor that indicated that his opponents better be careful.

#4 Jey Uso delivered on SmackDown once again

Jey Uso faced Daniel Bryan in a Street Fight for the main event of this week’s SmackDown.

For a long time, it was known that Jey Uso was an incredible wrestler in the tag team division with his brother Jimmy Uso. However, it’s only been in the last year he’s got to put on a show as a singles wrestler. Surprising everyone, Jey has become a main-event caliber star over the course of a few months.

Yet again this week, Jey Uso delivered when he faced Daniel Bryan in the main event. He ended up losing to Bryan, but the match was the best of the night. He put on a show for the fans and displayed not only his athletic ability but also the viciousness that every top-tier wrestler must have.

Jey Uso found himself facing a furious Daniel Bryan, who is adamant about claiming his place at the top of the roster. He faced him, and not for a second did he look like he was out of place.

While it remains to be seen if he will win a top title or not, he has proven himself capable of getting there over the past few months on SmackDown.

#3 Could Alpha Academy be the future of the SmackDown tag team division?

Alpha Academy is one of the best teams currently on the SmackDown roster. Although a heel Otis is something that will take some time to get used to, Gable is finally showcasing some of the ability that the WWE Universe knew he possessed. For some reason, the tag team with Otis has worked out better than anyone could have imagined.

Their wrestling styles are completely different but they have meshed together as the perfect team.

This week on SmackDown, Alpha Academy teamed up with Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode to face The Street Profits and The Mysterio Family. Gable and Otis ended up dominating most of the match before getting the win for their team.

If things continue in their current fashion, Alpha Academy may very well end up winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championships before too long. There’s a long way to go for them to develop as a team, but they seem to be getting there.

What happens over the next few weeks for them will determine their future as a tag team.

#2 Bianca Belair’s dominance on SmackDown

Bianca Belair faces Sasha Banks in a week at WrestleMania for the SmackDown women’s title. She won the Royal Rumble to get there, and week after week has proven her right to be involved in the conversation.

Prior to facing Sasha, she faced Carmella on this week’s SmackDown. Carmella, a former women’s champion, is not a pushover. However, Bianca Belair had little trouble with putting her away.

Not only did she defeat Carmella, but Belair had an eye out for her WrestleMania opponent as well. After the match when Sasha tried to rush her, she was able to stop her momentum before she could attack.

The match between the two of them at WrestleMania is looking bigger every time they stand across the ring from each other. Sasha Banks is a natural star and has an established background as one of the top women’s stars on the main roster. Belair, on the other hand, only made her main roster debut in the past year and is seemingly ready to go toe to toe with Sasha already.

#1 Daniel Bryan laid out both his WrestleMania opponents on SmackDown

Daniel Bryan is unquestionably in the form of a lifetime. This week on SmackDown, he showed why he was the leader of the Yes Movement once again.

Fans were ready for a WrestleMania match where Edge would face Roman Reigns. Daniel Bryan has now managed to insert himself into the picture once again.

During this week’s episode of SmackDown, not only did Daniel Bryan defeat Jey Uso in a brutal street fight, he also laid out both his opponents for WrestleMania.

Roman Reigns was there watching the show as his cousin faced Daniel Bryan, hoping he would have one less contender for the title at WWE’s biggest event of the year. Meanwhile, Edge also expressed that he would have no problem if Bryan happened to be taken out before WrestleMania.

After he defeated Jey Uso, Daniel Bryan hit Edge with a running knee, and then sent him into a ring post. He then also hit Roman Reigns with a running knee and put him in the Yes Lock. Bryan has now made it believable that he could very well walk away from WrestleMania as the Universal Champion.
