Banks, who hadn’t been seen in WWE in months, not only returned to WWE this week but did so in a major way, turning heel on the show with an attack on Natalya and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

Over the years, there have been plenty of big heel turns regarding the women of WWE, though some have stood out more than others.

Here are the five best WWE heel turns by the women of the company, who proved sometimes it’s good to be bad.

#5 The Hot Rod gets Rowdy

There has never been a Superstar who came into WWE with as much buzz as Ronda Rousey. After dominating the Octagon, the UFC Hall of Famer joined the WWE in January 2018 as a smiling babyface who put on solid matches.

Unfortunately for Rousey, some fans didn’t take too kindly to the UFC star, who was rocketed to the moon quickly in her tenure, winning the RAW Women’s Title at Summerslam 2018, mere months into her undefeated career. By November, the boos were outweighing the cheers, and in 2019, the decision was made to turn the already controversial Rousey into a full heel.

A decision that made a lot of sense, Rousey was finally able to show why she was considered the Baddest Woman on the Planet, and this turn helped escalate Becky Lynch, who handed Rousey her first loss at WrestleMania 35, into an even bigger star than she was before.

#4 The Divas of Doom

Though the WWE’s Women’s division is one of the best things about the company in 2019, there was a time when the females weren’t treated so well. In 2011, the Divas division was little more than an afterthought to many fans, with jokes online of the short matches between Divas being “bathroom breaks.”

Though the company didn’t do too much for the storylines for women at the time, one major story was the Divas of Doom. On the August 1st, 2011 edition of RAW, Beth Phoenix won a Battle Royal to become the number one contender for the Divas title and showed she meant business by turning on the champion Kelly Kelly. Claiming that the era of the barbie dolls was over, Beth’s words were echoed days later by Natalya, who turned heel herself on SmackDown, to form the Divas of Doom.

With the Canadian by her side, Beth quickly captured the Divas Championship, and had several entertaining matches as champion, with her Survivor Series 2011 match against Eve being worth a watch. Though she would turn face again in 2012, the Glamazon proved it was good to be bad in the Divas of Doom.

#3 Bow down to the Queen

When the WWE launched their Women’s Revolution on the main roster, fans were excited. The call up of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks provided a much-needed breath of fresh air to the women’s division on RAW and SmackDown Live, which had grown stagnant for far too long.

As the three Superstars all did their own thing, fans wondered who would be the first to claim Championship gold. That question was answered at Night of Champions 2015 when Charlotte ended the record-breaking reign of Nikki Bella to become Divas Champion.

A big win for Flair, the title quickly went to Charlotte’s head, and on the first RAW of 2016, the self-proclaimed Queen attacked Becky Lynch, turning heel in the process. Though she had made for an entertaining face, Flair’s heel turn was a major turning point in her career, as the Champion’s best work arguably came during her time as a heel.

Since then, Flair has gone back and forth as a heel and a babyface but has had an incredible career, become a record-shattering nine-time Women’s Champion.

#2 The Boss is back on RAW

The most recent heel turn on this list, this turn to the dark side involves former RAW Women’s Champion Sasha Banks.

Banks, who hadn’t been seen on WWE TV since WrestleMania, had become a hotly debated Superstar, as rumors of a backstage incident at the show of shows kept her in the minds of fans, despite her absence from WWE programming.

Returning on this week’s RAW, it seemed The Boss was going to be the same smiling babyface she has been for the majority of her main roster tenure. After hugging the injured Natalya though, The Boss showed her true colors (literally), by attacking the Canadian and pulling off her purple wig, to reveal her new blue hair underneath.

An appearance by the reigning RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch didn’t stop The Boss’ wrath, as Banks leveled The Man with a series of chair shots on the outside of the ring. In a matter of minutes, Banks had gone from being another underused star on the roster to the most discussed Superstar in the entire women’s division. Bank on that.

#1 Trish sends Jericho into the Stratusphere

Trish Stratus may have hung up her boots for good at WWE SummerSlam, but the legendary Canadian had a career most wrestlers can only dream of. For years, Stratus was the top star of the WWE’s Divas division, and in 2004, got involved in a storyline involving her male counterparts.

When Chris Jericho and Christian made a bet about which star could seduce Trish and Lita respectively, the women were rightly furious along the way. It certainly didn’t help that the bet was made over one Canadian dollar, but along the way, Jericho discovered real feelings for Stratus, leading to friction between him and Christian.

This friction culminated in a match at WrestleMania 20, where Christian got the win over his former pal, thanks in part to an ‘accidental’ strike on Y2J by Stratus. Post-match, Stratus tried to apologise to Jericho, but instead turned heel on Jericho, attacking the first-ever Undisputed Champion with a devastating low-blow, and by aligning herself with Christian, turned heel for the first time in her career in over two years.
