Goldberg’s last WWE match came in Saudi Arabia back in October when he was able to defeat Bobby Lashley to end their feud.

The former Universal Champion hasn’t been seen on WWE TV in almost four months but has somehow been able to push himself to the front of the line for a title shot.

There are many other superstars who have a better claim to a match against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber, who are full-time stars more deserving of the match.

#5. Montez Ford would be a better opponent for Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber than Goldberg

Montez Ford has been a tag team competitor on the main roster over the past few years alongside Angelo Dawkins. However, at The Royal Rumble he showed that he could be a genuine singles contender.

Ford recently opened up to Booker T about the fact that he wanted to be WWE Champion and that it’s still a dream of his, despite being part of The Street Profits at present.

Ford famously battled Roman Reigns on SmackDown back in September in a match that turned people’s heads. Since Reigns had no one else to challenge him at Elimination Chamber, Ford could have been a worthy opponent in the Middle East.

#4. Shelton Benjamin would have been a fantastic opponent for Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber

Roman Reigns just cost Brock Lesnar his WWE Championship and knows that The Beast will be coming for him.

It’s unclear why WWE hasn’t just allowed the two men to collide in the Middle East, but given the fact that Lesnar is now in the Chamber match, it obviously can’t happen.

Brock Lesnar’s best friend in WWE is Shelton Benjamin. The two men came through the ranks together and are close in real life as well. If Reigns wanted to get over even more as a heel then destroying his best friend would be a great route to go.

Benjamin is a RAW Superstar but given that this is a joint premium live event there shouldn’t be an issue with Reigns going head-to-head with the former member of The Hurt Business.

Lesnar could then look to help his friend but would have to go through The Bloodline which would see him hit the ring a little too late.

#3. Finn Balor would have been a better opponent for Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber

Finn Balor has been struggling to find any kind of direction on WWE programming over the past few months. Roman Reigns could have been the man to finally give Balor some purpose.

The two men are definitely no strangers to one another and even though Balor is over on RAW, the company has found reasons to allow talent to move from brand to brand in the past.

Balor and Reigns faced off back at Extreme Rules in 2021, and the match had one of the most controversial finishes in WWE history. Balor was seemingly betrayed by the ropes as he looked to defeat Reigns with a Coup De Grace.

The finish of the match was never addressed and Balor has moved on with his career on the red brand. Balor deserves retribution, and having traveled to Saudi Arabia in the past, the former Universal Champion would have been a fantastic pick to challenge The Tribal Chief at Elimination Chamber.

#2. Former WWE Champion Big E could have challenged Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber

Big E and Roman Reigns have history and the former WWE Champion recently made the move back over to SmackDown.

Despite issues between the two men, the feud between Big E and Roman Reigns is yet to be revisited. Whilst Xavier Woods is out injured, it appears that Big E is taking his place in the tag team division.

Woods could be back before Elimination Chamber, which would have allowed Big E to step into a match against Reigns after The Tribal Chief defeated him at Survivor Series in November.

If Goldberg was able to step into a title match with Reigns without any kind of build then surely there would have been a way to push Big E into that spot following the issues between The Bloodline and The New Day in 2021.

Big E hasn’t had the best run in WWE since dropping the title and this would have been the perfect match to push him back into a decent position on the roster.

#1. Roman Reigns could continue his storyline with Seth Rollins at Elimination Chamber

Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins collided at The Royal Rumble in what was one of the matches of the night. The former Shield members were able to tell a fantastic story that ended when Rollins picked up the victory via disqualification.

Reigns then continued the assault on Rollins after the match and it appears that The Visionary has now moved forward into The Elimination Chamber.

Rollins defeated Reigns which means that he deserves a rematch, which should be taking place at Elimination Chamber. Instead Goldberg has been pushed into the title match rather than the company deciding to let Rollins and Reigns go at it again in the Middle East.

It makes no sense for Rollins to move forward from his victory over Reigns and instead go after the WWE Championship. It’s clear that Rollins’ rematch has been forgotten so Goldberg is able to travel to the Middle East once in what should be his final match on his current WWE deal.
