The list of the players retained and released by the respective teams was out in the month of December 2016. With the auctions scheduled to be held on 4th and 5th of February(not confirmed), there is a normal buzz of tension among the owners of the franchise.
In their hunt for players, Big Bash league has always been an eye catcher for these franchises. BBL has yet again produced numerous talents and here’s a list of top 5 players from the Big Bash who could make their way into the IPL this season.
#5 Ben Dunk
The 29-year-old finished the season as the highest run scorer with a total of 364 runs in 8 matches. His highest score was 85 with an impressive strike rate of 163.96. He also had an average of 52 in the 8 matches that he had played which is exceptional in T20 format.
With three centuries to his name in the season, he had a total of 35 sixes and 16 fours in 8 innings. He was fourth on the list of most fifties in the BBL 2016-17. Ben Dunk will be the player the owners would want to have in their team when it comes to having a stable batsman in the team or if there is a need for a wicketkeeper-batsman.
#4 Chris Jordan
Jordan is one of best pacers the England team has. In the Big Bash season, Jordan picked up nine wickets in the five matches that he played. He had an economy of 9.29 with the best bowling figures of 3/24. He has the ability to bowl yorkers in the death overs which will come handy in the IPL.
In the recent India vs England T20 series, he conceded 27 runs in four overs with a wicket in the first match in Kanpur. In the second T20, he conceded 22 runs in 4 overs, picking up three wickets with an average of 5.55 to restrict India to a score of 144.
With the nerve to pick the wickets in the death overs, he will be one of the players part of a bidding war.
#3 Ish Sodhi
The 23-year-old Ish Sodhi of New Zealand took 9 wickets in just 3 matches that he had played in the BBL 06. With a remarkable economy of 6.08, he is a player to look out for.
With 6/11 being his best, he can be a lethal wicket taking bowler. He maintained a decent average of 7.77. He had the best bowling figures of the tournament and also had the record of best strike rate. This right-arm leg break bowler can be a good choice for the owners.
#2 Scott Boland
With an effective average of 20.42, Scott Boland was one of the top players in this season of the Big Bash league. This average is outstanding when it comes to the T20 format.
With a best of 4/30, he took a total of 14 wickets. The owners of the IPL teams would try hard to bid as high as possible for this player and the right-arm fast bowler would be a good choice to maintain a limited run rate and restrict the opponent while also picking up wickets at regular intervals.
#1 Sean Abbott
This 24-year-old young pacer from Australia was the highest wicket-taker of the Big Bash league 2016/17. He picked up 20 wickets in only 10 matches with a best of 5/16. A splendid average of 16.15 can be another reason to pick him up.
Abbott had the third best figures in the tournament. If picked up by any of the teams and played regularly, he might end up being a purple cap contender in the IPL season 10.
